Japan CCS contracted to conduct investigation works of chemical synthesis including methanol
This is to inform that Japan CCS Co., Ltd. (JCCS) has been contracted by Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. (MHPS) to conduct investigation works regarding the utilization of the Tomakomai CCS Demonstration Center aiming towards the demonstration of methanol synthesis. This contract is an integral part of investigation works that MHPS, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Engineering, Ltd. (MHIENG) and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc. (MGC) were commissioned by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) under the contract “CCS R&D・Demonstration Related Works / Investigation of CCUS Technology / Investigation works of the effective use of CO2 by synthesis of key materials including methanol at the Tomakomai CO2 storage site”. JCCS will report the results of this investigation by the end of FY2020.
JCCS will conduct investigations on the provision of feedstock gas and utilities, as well as the interoperation of CCU and CCS facilities, and contribute towards the investigation works of CCUS (Carbon dioxide Capture, Utilization and Storage) technology, which utilizes CO2 as a resource.
