Japan CCS Co., Ltd. presented at Clean Energy Ministerial CCUS Initiative Webinar.
On June 25, 2020, in cooperation with the Japan CCS Co., Ltd. (hereinafter JCCS) and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (hereinafter METI) presented at the webinar “Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage in Japan” hosted by the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM)* CCUS Initiative.
Following a welcome and opening remarks by Mr. Brian Allison, CEM CCUS Initiative Co-Lead, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, United Kingdom, JCCS made a presentation entitled “Tomakomai CCS Demonstration Project at 300 thousand tonnes cumulative injection” providing an overview of the Summary Report which was recently released following the achievement of the target of 300 thousand tonnes of CO2 injection in November 2019 at the Tomakomai CCS Demonstration Project.
Mr. Yukihiro Kawaguchi, Director of Global Environmental Affairs Office, METI, made a presentation entitled “CCUS in Japan, Present and future” explaining the current status and future outlook for CCUS in the context of Japan`s energy strategy.

*The Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) is a high-level global forum to promote policies and programs that advance clean energy technology, to share lessons learned and best practices, and to encourage the transition to a global clean energy economy. Initiatives are based on areas of common interest among participating governments and other stakeholders. CEM members account for approximately 75% of global greenhouse gas emissions and 90% of global clean energy investments.
