Tomakomai CCS Demonstration Project featured in “Legal and Regulatory Framework for CCUS – An IEA CCUS Handbook”.
The Tomakomai CCS Demonstration Project is featured in “Legal and Regulatory Framework for CCUS – An IEA CCUS Handbook” issued by IEA in July 2022. The public engagement efforts of the Tomakomai Project are introduced in Chapter 3: Regulatory Foundations: Public Engagement and Consultation as a global example of public engagement (p.47-48). The column describes that the key factor in the success of this project was that JCCS, the project operator, has secured the support of the public through a continued public engagement program.
