Tomakomai CCS Demonstration Project featured in “CO2 storage resources and their development – An IEA CCUS Handbook”.
The Tomakomai CCS Demonstration Project is featured in “CO2 storage resources and their development – An IEA CCUS Handbook” issued by IEA in December 2022. The Tomakomai Project is introduced in Chapter 7: Technical risks as a case study: CO2 storage in an earthquake-prone region (P85). The column describes Japan CCS’s quick response to a Mw 6.6 September 2018 earthquake where it disclosed data confirming that there was no CO2 leakage. Japan CCS is also mentioned in P71, P97 and P98.
